Still on the way to Akureyri...

We spent a night at another, very cute, hostel in the North.

It was more or less in the middle of nowhere (as is most of Iceland), but the view was amazing (as were most of them).

We've been playing a viking game that's called, in English, "Castle". It involves throwing things at other things. You can stay up very late playing Castle because the sun never goes down...and next thing you know it's the morning!

After the hostel, and on our FINAL drive to Akureyri we stopped at the Landsvirkjun Hydroelectric Plant. They had a model in the lobby to show the basic structure of a hydro plant.

The turbines are many meters underground, so we drove through a batcave tunnel to get there.

The big red things are the tops of turbines. It was very loud in here...and you couldn't really see all that much...

After the plant we stopped at the reservoir that supplies the river, and had lunch there. It was really windy, but the view (again) was pretty amazing.

Here's the group and our trusty steed.

There were tons of canyons along the drive. We were in an extremely rural part of Iceland (even by Icelandic standards). I've never seen so many sheep in my life.
